Firat has spent over a decade at the intersection of AI and product innovation, building experiences that push the boundaries of what's possible. At Amazon, he was the product lead for the initial development of Alexa's next-generation conversational AI using advanced LLMs, pioneering one of the first complex agents with tool use—work that laid the foundation for what is now Alexa+.

Most recently, Firat spearheaded the launch of Amazon Nova Foundation Models at AWS re:Invent 2024, where he now leads strategy for Amazon's AGI models, focusing on core intelligence capabilities like reasoning and advanced cognitive functions. Before joining Amazon, Firat drove AI transformation at LexisNexis, helping legal professionals leverage machine learning and NLP for insights, and pioneered ML-powered medical imaging solutions in the life sciences sector. 

He's passionate about bridging cutting-edge AI research with real-world products that make a difference. Personally, Firat and his wife moved to Bellevue from London in 2024 and quickly discovered that the Pacific Northwest has just as much rain as the UK—but with better coffee and mountains you can actually see on sunny days.
