Ron Smeets is Principal Atlassian Consultant at Communardo Netherlands, an Atlassian Platinum Solution Partner. He is the team’s driving force on AI, guiding clients through the shift from chat-based LLMs to agentic AI and, increasingly, networks of collaborating agents.

With a bachelor’s degree in Artificial Intelligence and more than 30 years as a software architect and entrepreneur, Ron has been thinking about intelligent systems for a long time. He founded and led Kensas, co-owned 42.nl, and ran Prepend before it became part of Communardo — designing and building systems for mid-sized and enterprise customers along the way. Today he pairs that architect’s eye with hands-on AI delivery, working with Atlassian Rovo alongside tools like Claude to ship real applications and rethink how teams get work done.
