Agile and Architecture: Friends for Life

Architecture as a discipline has been through several ups and downs over the decades. After routinely recounting recent IT history by the respective architecture, from Client-Server to web-scale and cloud-native architectures, the internet and popular frameworks were perceived as already having made all important architect decisions for us, freeing developers from having to deal with architecture and with those folks having “architect” written on their business card. And if that wasn’t enough, many diehard Agilistas proclaim that they don’t need architecture because, well, they’re Agile.

This talk takes a fresh look at the role of architecture in the context of agile organizations and cloud platforms. We’ll not only find that architecture is as important, if not more important, than ever, we’ll also see why Agile and architecture work hand in hand.
