Chief Marketing Officer
Atlassian
Zeynep Inanoglu Ozdemir was most recently CMO of Palo Alto Networks where she was a member of the PANW leadership team and responsible for all marketing functions across the company’s cybersecurity portfolio. During her tenure there, Zeynep has seen Palo Alto Networks transform from a single product company to a leader in more than 10 cybersecurity product categories, while growing its market capitalization by more than 3x within 4 years. She has played a critical role in growing the company’s next-gen security products, notably pioneering the XDR category in cybersecurity and launching the company’s award-winning brand-campaign “We’ve Got Next”. Prior to Palo Alto Networks, Zeynep took on various marketing and GTM leadership roles at Palantir and Google. In all her experiences, what defined Zeynep’s flavor of marketing was her technical depth and close ties to product and engineering teams, which resulted in impactful thought partnership with the customers. In an earlier life, Zeynep was a software engineer and research scientist. She earned her PhD in speech signal processing at Cambridge University, Machine Intelligence Lab in the UK and her Bachelors degree in Electrical, Computer & Systems Engineering at Harvard University. The output of her PhD work was a machine learning system for generating synthetic speech with a variety of emotional expressions. Her journal publication on this topic received the best paper award issued by the European Association for Signal Processing. Even on her academic journey, she was a product marketer at heart, with a knack for communicating complex systems to the media (see New Scientist picking up some of her early work in 2005!) Zeynep is married to a journalist which means she is automatically up to date with what’s going on in the world on a daily basis. She has one son, Mavi, who loves nutella, roblox and basketball (not necessarily in that order). In her free time Zeynep loves to practice yoga and create new experiences for her family and friends to remember.
