Rovo Dev for builders: From SDLC friction to solution specs

Session 1 of 4

Have a friction point in your SDLC that never quite makes it to the top of the roadmap? Whether it’s broken deployment workflows, scattered context across tools, or “where’s the latest commit?” chaos - this workshop series is where you finally get to fix it.

As the first of our four-part Rovo Dev Workshop series, this session sets the foundation for your two-day build. We’ll start by introducing the workshop roadmap and quickly recapping Rovo Dev framework before diving straight into the "Blueprinting" phase.

In this series kick-off, you will:

Meet your mentors: Get introduced to the Rovo Dev engineering team who will be your partners for the next two days.

Identify the friction: Bring a real challenge from your org (or pick from our library of common SDLC pain points) to serve as your project focus.

Map the solution: Work side-by-side with Atlassian engineers to translate your friction points into a concrete Rovo Dev technical blueprint.

Get the inside track: Hear how Atlassian engineers use these exact tools to solve similar internal bottlenecks.

You’ll leave this first session with:

A clear project goal: A defined "North Star" for your Rovo Dev prototype that you'll build across the remaining sessions.

Technical readiness: Your environment, requirements, and context mapped out so you can hit the ground running in Session 2.

Initial feedback: 1:1 coaching on your design before you write a single line of logic.

Atlassian is evolving from product‑attached extensions to truly global, platform‑native apps and Forge developers are at the centre of that shift. In this workshop, we’ll introduce Forge global apps and the different components which make up this project. Show how global navigation and full page modules let your app feel like a first‑party experience, with a technical walk and demos of our EAP. You’ll learn when it makes sense to build a global app, get practical design and development guidelines so your experiences feel native in global chrome, and see what’s coming next on the roadmap. We’ll wrap with interactive feedback, idea‑sharing, and EAP sign‑ups so you can begin shaping the next generation of Atlassian apps.

Answering the same IT questions over and over because your knowledge base can’t keep up? In this workshop, we’ll showcase a Rovo agent that scans recently resolved JSM tickets, checks whether matching Confluence articles already exist in the knowledge base, and, when it finds a gap, suggests or creates new article drafts. With an automated change request for these drafts we'll be keeping human oversight in the loop! You’ll unlock the next level of service management by combining AI-powered knowledge management best practices with the Knowledge Curator agent, helping your organization keep its knowledge base fresh, accurate, and effortless to maintain.

Rovo Dev for builders: Building the functional prototype

In this intensive build session, you will:

Initialize your project: Use Rovo Dev to set up your environment and begin scripting logic.

Connect your context: Start integrating the data sources and tool-chains identified in your blueprint.

Engineering "Office Hours": Atlassian engineers will be circulating for 1:1 troubleshooting as you navigate your first build hurdles.

Key outcomes:

A "v1" functional prototype

Direct experience with the Rovo Dev and developer APIs

Overcoming initial technical blockers with immediate mentor support
